What We Don't Do

Hearthline is an administrative and educational service. Being clear about the limits of what we offer is part of how we work. The list below is not small print — it is given the same weight as everything else on this page.

  • We do not give legal, financial, or counselling advice of any kind.
  • We do not assess, interpret, or comment on any document.
  • We do not discuss individual circumstances in group sessions.
  • We do not represent families before any body or authority.
  • We do not promise any particular outcome from using our services.

For matters requiring expertise, we provide a written referral list so you can contact a qualified professional of your own choosing.

What we offer

Three Ways Hearthline Can Help

Each service is designed to give you a clearer picture of the administrative side of family life — without steering you in any direction. We hand out source lists, we keep records, and we keep meetings moving.

Family information evening session

Family Information Evening

A two-hour open session held twice monthly covering the kinds of documents, public bodies, and processes families in Malaysia commonly encounter during a household change — a move, a marriage, a bereavement, or a change in who cares for whom. Every point is sourced from publicly available material and a printed reference sheet is handed out at the door.

  • Publicly sourced information only
  • Printed reference sheet included
  • Referral list at the door for individual matters
  • No individual circumstances discussed in the room

RM 470 per attendee

Family document archive and records

Written Records for the Family Archive

A four-appointment engagement producing a bound family archive: a chronological index of household documents, scanned copies on an encrypted drive you keep, a contacts directory listing each issuing body and its own published enquiry channel, and a short written narrative you dictate explaining where everything is and why it was kept.

  • Four structured appointments
  • Encrypted drive remains with you
  • Contacts directory for every issuing body
  • No document interpretation or assessment

RM 1,320 per engagement

RM 4,600 for six months

Ask About This Plan

Bring someone with you. For any service that involves a conversation, you are welcome to bring a family member, friend, or support person to the appointment. You do not need to explain why.

Why Hearthline

A Different Kind of Support

Families in Malaysia often find that general information about documents and processes is scattered across many sources. Hearthline brings it into one room and helps you keep it in one place.

Education, Not Direction

Every session names its sources and hands them to you. What you do with the information is entirely your decision.

Your Data Stays With You

The encrypted drive from the archive service is yours to keep. We do not retain copies of your documents.

Calm, Unhurried Pace

Sessions move at whatever speed works for you. There is no sales pressure and no fixed agenda beyond what you bring to the room.

Written Summaries Throughout

Every facilitated meeting produces a written summary. You always know what was discussed and what the next steps are.

Bring Someone With You

Any appointment can include a family member, friend, or support person. No explanation is needed or expected.

Clear Referrals When Needed

Anything requiring qualified professional input is referred in writing. We name who to contact and why, so you can decide who to approach.

Common questions

Questions Families Often Ask

Is Hearthline a law firm or a counselling service?

No. Hearthline is an administrative and educational service. We explain where public information lives and help families keep their documents in order. We are not qualified to give legal, financial, medical, or counselling advice, and we do not do so.

Can I attend a Family Information Evening if I am not sure whether it is relevant?

Yes. The sessions cover a broad range of situations — moves, marriages, bereavements, and changes in care arrangements. Many attendees come because they are not yet sure what they need to know. The printed reference sheet is useful even if only part of the evening applies to you.

What happens to my documents during the archive service?

Your documents are scanned and indexed during the four appointments. Scanned copies are stored on an encrypted drive that you keep. We do not retain copies. The archivist transcribes and organises — they do not assess or interpret anything.

What does "household transition" mean in the context of your support plan?

It refers to a significant change in living arrangement — for example, a family member moving in or out, a bereavement that changes who lives where, a separation, or an adult child leaving the family home. The plan helps with the administrative side of those changes, not the personal or legal side.

How do I know when the next Family Information Evening is?

Sessions are held twice monthly in George Town. Send us an enquiry using the form below and we will share the current schedule and confirm availability.

Are the prices listed final, or are there additional charges?

The prices on this page cover the service as described. Any variation — for example, additional archive appointments — would be discussed and agreed in writing before work begins.

Can I bring a family member to any appointment?

Yes. You are welcome to bring a family member, a friend, or a support person to any appointment. You do not need to explain or justify bringing someone. We think it often makes the conversation easier.
