"My mother passed away in April and I had no idea which documents I needed or where to go first. I attended the information evening the following month. Two hours later I had a printed list of every public body I needed to contact and where to find the forms. No one told me what to do — they just told me where the information was, and that was exactly what I needed at that point."

"We did the archive service when my father-in-law moved in with us. Four sessions, spread out over about six weeks. Sathyaraj was very methodical — he worked through every folder and box without any hurry. The contacts directory has already saved us time twice. My only note would be that the first appointment was a bit hard to schedule, but once it was in the calendar everything ran smoothly."

"We went through the transition support plan when my parents separated and we were managing two households at once. Norzita kept the monthly meetings very focused — she would arrive with an agenda, we would work through it, and there was always a written summary by the next morning. It meant the administrative side of everything had its own container, which freed up a lot of emotional space for the rest."

"I had no particular crisis — I just knew our household papers were a mess and I wanted them sorted before anything happened. The archive service was straightforward. The bound index is well laid out and the narrative section was a good idea. It took longer than I expected because I kept finding things in places I had forgotten, but that is probably not Hearthline's problem."

"I came to the information evening with my sister, which they were happy to accommodate. We are handling our mother's estate together and neither of us knew where to start. The session covered more ground than I expected in two hours. The reference sheet lists six different government portals I had never heard of but absolutely needed. We referred matters beyond that to a solicitor they named in the referral list."

"We used the transition support plan when my elderly parents moved in with us. The coordinator kept the whole administrative process from becoming another thing I had to manage personally. The shared calendar was especially useful — my brother is in KL and he could see exactly where things stood at any point without needing to call and ask."

In more detail
Three Family Situations
Three accounts of how families worked with Hearthline. Names are changed at the families' request.
Managing a Bereavement: The Lim Family, George Town
The Situation
The family had three months to wind up their father's affairs but no understanding of which bodies to notify or in what order. Documents were in three different locations across the household.
What Hearthline Did
Two family members attended an information evening. The following month, the archive service consolidated all documents across the three locations. The contacts directory named every body they needed to approach and its own published procedure.
The Outcome
Within the three-month period, the family had completed all administrative notifications. A solicitor from the referral list handled the estate matters that required professional input.
"We were completely at a loss before the information evening. The reference sheet told us exactly what existed and where to go. Everything else followed from that." — Elder daughter
A Move Into Care: The Ng Family, Butterworth
The Situation
An elderly mother was moving from her own home into care. The family needed to handle a change of address across multiple bodies, manage the property paperwork, and keep track of what they had notified and when.
What Hearthline Did
The transition support plan ran for five months. Monthly facilitated meetings kept three adult siblings — two of whom live outside Penang — coordinated via the shared calendar. The administrative notifications checklist was completed in the third month.
The Outcome
The move was completed with no notification overlooked. The written summaries meant that all three siblings had a clear record of every decision made, regardless of whether they attended that month's meeting.
"The meeting summaries were what made it work for us. We didn't have to argue about what was agreed because it was all there in writing." — Son, Kuala Lumpur
Preventive Archiving: The Krishnan Family, Air Itam
The Situation
No immediate crisis, but a household with thirty years of accumulated paperwork and no system. The family wanted everything organised while they still had time to do it unhurriedly.
What Hearthline Did
Four archive appointments over two months. The family dictated a narrative explaining the history of the household to accompany the index. The contacts directory was particularly extensive given the age of some documents.
The Outcome
A bound archive covering thirty-two years of household records. The narrative means any family member can pick it up and understand the context of every document without needing to ask.
"We should have done this fifteen years ago. The whole thing took two months and we are the only people who have the drive." — Husband
